    Tyndall AFB, FL - Educational Services

    The Education Center at Tyndall Air Force Base is located at 921 Beacon Beach Road. The Education Center offers basic skills education as well as college preparation courses for active-duty military and their families. College testing facilities are also available as well as help with financial aid.     The education center staff includes professional counselors who advise military, civil service personnel, retirees and family members on educational opportunities. Programs include Community College of the Air Force, enlisted commissioning programs, college-level testing, professional military education, veteran92s benefits, tuition assistance, financial aid, deferments and distance learning.

    Four schools provide on-base programs: Gulf Coast Community College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Southern Illinois University of Carbondale and Troy University.

    Other schools in the area include Florida State University, Panama City Campus, Haney Vocational-Technical School and The Shaw Adult Center. The Tyndall Education Center is open Monday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Counseling and testing are by appointment only.     GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE
    Offering 30 - 40 courses at Tyndall each semester, Gulf Coast Community College boasts a wide variety of degree programs including associate degrees that prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions, associate of science degrees in occupational fields and some one-year certificate programs.

    On-base classes are scheduled for morning, noon, afternoon, evening and weekend attendance to meet the needs of military students. Internet courses are also available. Additional courses are offered at the Panama City campus, located at 5230 W. Highway 98, approximately 16 miles from Tyndall.     EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY
    ERAU is an aviation and management-oriented institution. At Tyndall, ERAU offers Associate and Bachelor of Science degrees in Professional Aeronautics, Associate and Bachelor of Science degrees in Technical Management, and a Master of Science degree in Aeronautical Science.

    ERAU provides courses in five nine-week terms. In addition, distance learning courses are available in 12-week terms for undergraduate and 15-week terms for graduate programs.     TROY UNVIERSITY FLORIDA & WESTERN REGIONS
    Troy University offers programs designed for students with diverse educational backgrounds and varying work schedules. Programs at Tyndall include: Bachelor of Science degree in Management; Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Resources Management; and Master of Science degrees in Counseling and Psychology, Human Resources Management and Management.

    FLORDIA STATE UNIVERSITY, PANAMA CITY CAMPUS
    The FSU campus is located about 16 miles from Tyndall, but the university staffs an advising office Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room 51 at the Tyndall Education Center.

    THE FLORIDA ENGINEERING EDUCATION DELIVERY SYSTEM
    FEEDS is a video and interactive video program that provides quality graduate degrees or extended studies in a variety of engineering studies.     HANEY VOCATIONAL-TECHNICAL INSTITUTE
    Located about 15 miles from Tyndall, the Haney Vocational-Technical Institute offers a variety of technical programs and certificates in areas such as automotive, carpentry, drafting, computer technology, business technology, family and consumer sciences, health occupations, welding and heating and air conditioning.     THE SHAW ADULT CENTER
    Located about five miles from Tyndall, the Shaw Adult Center provides courses leading to the General Education Development certificate or a high school diploma.
